Job Description:
FirstChurch is a multi-campus church located in Champaign in east central Illinois, home of the University of Illinois. The church, founded in 1867, is a member of the Presbyterian Church, U.S.A. In 2007, the church opened a second campus in southwest Champaign, which is housed in an elementary school for Sunday morning worship. We host over 550 worshippers at our two locations each Sunday.

We have recently completed a visioning process for the whole church, which resulted in a new mission statement. Now, we are poised to grow as a congregation who connects with God through worship, each other through small group involvement and the world around us through outreach and service. We seek a relational, experienced person, with the vision and drive to provide inspirational leadership to our family, youth and children ministry programs.

The Director of Family, Youth & Children’s Ministries will develop and support an action plan that restores parents as the primary faith teachers, mentors and role models for their children, with the church as reinforcement, not replacement, of the parents’ duties.

Principal Job:
Bring progressive leadership to Youth Ministry (aged 6th-12th grades), Children’s Ministry (aged birth-5th grade) and Family Ministry programs.

Qualifications:

• Demonstrates a personal relationship with Jesus Christ through regular worship participation, small group involvement and service/outreach activities

• Degree in Christian education and 2 years’ leadership experience OR 5 years’ leadership experience
• Proven ability to recruit, organize and equip volunteers and staff
• Proven ability to develop and manage programs
