Pastor of Community Involvement
Job Description:
The Assistant Pastor of Community Involvement primarily leads in developing the outreach efforts of CCC Aurora adults and families to our local community. In addition this position works closely with the Pastor of Congregational Care in the mercy and care ministries of CCC Aurora. This position reports to the Aurora Associate Pastor. This is a full time, salaried director position with benefits.
Specific Responsibilities:
• Community Involvement: Develop leaders and ministries to engage our congregation in discovering their area of gifting/calling and practical outreach efforts to address various needs within our local community. This could include facilitating awareness of local ministry needs and opportunities; developing targeted ministry projects, workshops and training modules; partnering with other local churches and ministries, etc.
• Strategic Ministry Partners: In cooperation with our other campuses, build and maintain relationships with current and new Strategic Ministry Partners for the purpose of engaging our people in ministry and reaching our city with the gospel of Christ.
• Assimilation: Provide leadership to an effective assimilation strategy for base camp Aurora including overseeing the Ministry Tracks Development Team and creating and implementing other strategies of equpping and engaging people in ministry.
• Care & Prayer Ministries: In cooperation with the Assistant Pastor of Congregational Care develop leaders and ministries to care for CCC Aurora funerals and meals for families in emergency or need; coordinate and provide guidance, equipping, appreciation and motivation to the Prayer-Care Ministry including after-service prayer, prayer chain, military prayer requests and Sunday prayer card followup.
• Pastoral Liason: Serve as pastoral liason to the following areas of ministry at CCC Aurora to give oversight and as needed help recruit, equip, appreciate and motivate leaders: Whiz Kids, Lifeboat 14
• General Shepherding of the congregation to include: participation in the “Pastor of the Day” and “Emergency Pastor” rotations, performing weddings and funerals, Deacon’s fund requests, hospital visitation, participation in weekend worship services as requested, etc.
• Additional Responsibilities: Attend all staff meetings (Staff “Kudos & Prayer”, Director’s Meetings, Monthly CCC All Staff, Annual Retreat, etc.) and keep regular office hours (as much as possible).
Qualifications:
• Character: A Christ honoring life marked by personal holiness, prayer, bible study, spiritual and emotional maturity and increasing dependence on the Holy Spirit (Titus 1:6-9, 1 Timothy 3:1-7). Unquestionable integrity specifically in areas of handling finances, relationships and time management. A man/woman with a spirit of submission, eagerness, flexibility, a teachable spirit and a sense of humor!
• Competency: Pastoral gifting; naturally shepherds with strong gifts in mercy and compassion; proven experience in team building, envisioning and training people for ministry; missional in attitude and focus; effectively communicates with and relates to people of all ages; comfortable in interdenominational settings; takes personal initiative in learning; seminary degree with at least 3 years of ministry experience preferred but equivalent ministry experience or bible college degree is acceptable; competent computer skills in MS Office, Internet, etc.
• Convictions: A clear call to pastoral ministry and affirmation in that role; in full agreement with and champions the vision, mission and values of CCC Aurora. Will uphold and champion the multicampus model of CCC through active cross-campus cooperation and intentional relationship.
